We’re excited to announce that Ian Wills of Wills & The Willing is to release a single later this month in collaboration with Clannad’s Moya Brennan.
Wills rose to recognition as a spoken word artist with his band back in 2005, earning the prestigious “Pick of the Fringe” at the Edinburgh Festival in 2005 and subsequently gaining the attention of the national media, in particular Janice Long at Radio 2. His reputation has since consolidated as one of the most strikingly honest spoken word artists of the present day, dubbed ‘the Ian Dury of the 21st Century’ by the Times Magazine.
Inspired by increasingly worrying world events and reflecting on his own young daughter’s life, it may seem surprising that this latest track, Mercy’s Door, immediately rings of a Christmas classic, as resonant as Fairytale of New York. But this is because beneath his sometimes brutal lyricism there is the presence of a redemptive light, and underlying positivity that slowly emerges from the track…
Featuring the vocals of the iconic figurehead of modern Irish music, Moya Brennan of Clannad and a lush folk arrangement, the single will be released on the 30th November…
