Businessman Mustafa Khetty Pursues True Love of Music to Deliver Powerful Message

A rocker, humanist, classical aficionado, multi-ethnic at heart and a cultural melting pot – Meet Mustafa Khetty

Mustafa started writing music at age 12 and scored the first sketches of a Rock/classical fusion concerto, toccata and fugue and other pieces by 15. End of 2017, it was a full-circle return to his first passion after nearly 35 years as an investor and IT entrepreneur. He takes his first steps on his musical endeavour with a song that is powerful and hard-hitting. The track is thematically inspired by the Christchurch massacre that took place in New Zealand in 2019. The violent act of right-wing terrorism took the lives of 51 people in the Al Noor Mosque in Christchurch. We asked Mustafa about the inspiration behind the song:

  • Why did the New Zealand massacre affect you so much?
  • The victims’ gracious forgiveness and the entire country’s kindness and unanimous community spirit, dismantling barriers and ‘otherness’. The PM’s leadership and an outpouring of togetherness were exemplary.
  • What you hope people will get from listening to your music?
  • Women and children suffer the most from listening to NZ. Music has no borders, a multitude of sounds across cultures, instruments, styles interwoven in a tapestry of sound and emotions. A ‘being there’ moment.
