With news of Wolf Alice’s third studio album ‘Blue Weekend’ set for release June 11, Ellie Rowsell and her like-minded, ethereally punk-pop band have announced that they’ll be back on the road next year.
The London originals tweeted today (March 19) that they’ll be playing a series of shows in Scotland, England and Ireland in 2022, including dates at Glasgow’s Barrowlands (Jan 7), London’s Eventim Apollo (Jan 18) and at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre (Jan 25).
Pre-sale tickets will be made available to fans who pre-ordered the new album on Wednesday 24th March from 9am, while general tickets will go on sale on Friday 26th.
Ellie Rowsell also gave a touching insight via the Wolf Alice twitter account as to what she was looking forward to most on the new tour, in what will be an emotional return to live music for the band and fans alike.
“I cannot wait to wake up extremely dehydrated on the tour bus & step outside to see theo kicking a ball about in norwich UEA car park, to drink my breakfast beer to the sweet tones of joff’s noodling in glasgow barrowland’s dressing room”, Rowsell profaned. “I can’t wait to play these new songs live they are gonna sound so gooooood. joff’s pedal board literally sounds like an orchestra at the moment and you have no idea how sweet theo’s falsetto is rn.”
Though, Rowsell spoke for all her band in paying tribute to her fans: “I can not wait to see you all again old fans and new even the friend you’ve dragged along who doesn’t even want to be there i can’t wait to see you too” the frontman tweeted, “this message is gonna be really embarrassing if no one turns up to these shows so please buy a ticket i know it seems far away right now but it will be worth it promise.”
Don’t worry Ellie, I think after all things considered this past year and the lack of live music that we’ve missed out on, your shows will be selling out before you know it.
